I started having anxiety attacks recently, which had never happened before. It started to affect me a lot in many aspects of my life, and my partner, seeing what was happening, suggested that I seek professional help. I attended therapy sessions to discuss issues related to anxiety, lack of concentration, and low motivation. Such issues came up both in my personal well-being and in my academic work. When I first started therapy with Diego, I was very reluctant to open up and talk about what I was going through and in some ways I am still going through a difficult time. However, through these psychotherapy sessions, I also realized that there are many things to be grateful for and look forward to in life. You can’t just “fix” your mental health and be fine in a day or a week. Things take time and sometimes you will have really good days, sometimes really bad days, and days that are somewhere in between and that’s okay. The important thing is that even when you feel so terribly defeated, you slowly pick yourself up. I still have a long way to go in my own personal journey, but I am grateful for these therapy sessions because they have helped me take the first important steps towards taking care of my mental health.
